Frequently asked

How much does GRID cost?

The exam is $999 for a first attempt and $899 for a retake. Renewal follows GIAC's standard cycle: 36 CPE credits every 4 years plus a $499 renewal fee.

Who is GRID for?

GIAC aims it at ICS incident response team leads and members, OT security personnel, IT security professionals, SOC team leads and analysts, ICS red team and penetration testers, and active defenders, in short, the people who detect and respond to attacks against industrial environments.

GRID vs GICSP, which GIAC ICS cert should I take?

GICSP is the broader lifecycle credential for securing industrial systems across IT, engineering, and security. GRID is narrower and response-focused, built around active defense and incident handling for ICS. Practitioners moving into ICS incident response tend to favor GRID; those securing OT more generally start with GICSP.
