CompTIA SecAI+
CompTIA's AI security certification and the first in its Expansion Series, meant to sit on top of a credential like Security+, CySA+, or PenTest+ rather than replace one. Securing AI systems carries 40% of the exam weight, with the rest split across AI-assisted security operations, AI governance and compliance, and core AI concepts. Launched February 17, 2026 as exam CY0-001.
What you'll prove
- Defend AI systems against adversarial threats, from poisoned training data to manipulated models and prompt-based attacks
- Put AI to work in detection, incident response, and security automation
- Apply governance, risk, and compliance thinking to AI systems under frameworks like GDPR and the NIST AI RMF
Frequently asked
Is CompTIA SecAI+ an entry-level certification?
No. CompTIA aims SecAI+ at people already working in security, not first-timers: the recommended profile is 3 to 4 years in IT, at least 2 of them hands-on in cybersecurity, with a credential like Security+, CySA+, or PenTest+ already in hand.
How much does the SecAI+ exam cost?
$298 for the exam voucher from the CompTIA store. A voucher with retake assurance is $332, and bundles with CompTIA's CertMaster training products cost more.
SecAI+ vs Security+: which should I take?
They answer different questions. Security+ validates core security skills and is the usual starting point. SecAI+ layers AI-specific skills on top: securing AI systems, AI-assisted operations, and AI governance. CompTIA describes SecAI+ as a complement to Security+, CySA+, and PenTest+, not a replacement.
